Interns across the country are revealing what it's really like at their internships. This week, Pace University junior Thatiana spills on if interning at a modeling agency is really as glamorous as it sounds.

Wilhelmina Modeling Agency
How did you find your internship
I was referred to Wilhelmina by my last internship, which was actually at Seventeen
! My advisor, the bookings editor (he decides on which models
end up in the magazine), knew of my interest to work at a modeling agency and helped me land this new opportunity.
What do you do on a daily basis?
Every day is something different, but basically, I help out the model bookers in the Women's division of the agency. They send me emails all day on tasks to help them on, which can be updating a model's portfolio for her or creating a comp card for them. I do a lot of basic office work and organizing.
What has been the most important thing you've learned so far?
The most important thing I have learned so far is that communication is key. The agency is a team and in order for it to function properly, everyone must work as one. Communication is vital in keeping the company running smoothly and organized. I learned the hard way one day when I did not tell anyone I had starting working on a project. Thankfully, they asked me first so no one wasted their time by also starting it, but now I make sure to let everyone know what I'm working on with a quick email.
What has your internship taught you about the modeling world?
My internship has taught me that the modeling world is a really fast changing one. A model that could be "big" one day can have her fall the next. It is important for models to keep up with the industry they are in and listen to the advice they are given from their agencies so they can continue to make it. I did not realize how much pressure models were under. I have so much respect for them!
Has anything you've learned about the modeling world surprised you?
I learned that the models do not have it as easy as the world perceives them to have it. It is a fulltime job! Models come into the agency, are consulted, given castings, and work long hours. They sacrifice a lot for their careers too. I was surprised to learn they don't have this "easy, breezy" life that most girls want.
What tips do you have for girls who want to snag your internship
Research! It is important to know your information on the agency and to know the models. Study their site and try to memorize as much as possible. The more you know, the better!
What do you hope to do after college?
I hope to work in the world of bookings. I would love to work as a booker for a prestigious modeling agency or be a bookings editor at Seventeen
