PARIS — Tuesday afternoon in the Tuileries Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli presented their Valentino collection for Spring 2014. Elisabeth Erm wore two dazzling looks on the runway, which along with the bench seating was constructed entirely of a light wood. The Italian designers made no secret of the collection’s inspiration, which was made plain over a series of mood boards displayed prominently backstage. Maria Callas as Medea resonated throughout the collection, which manifested in a number of ankle-length column dresses with ornate textures. Hair and makeup by Guido and Pat McGrath respectively provided the collection its dramatic mooring, which was the theatre through and through.
