The Superbowl of editions offers a dizzying number of adverts, which after all is the lion’s share of the fun. About 200 pages into the issue Soo Joo features in an advert-cum-editorial collaboration between Vogue and H&M, which showcases the Swedish clothier’s Paris Show Collection. “Fashion starts with what models are wearing when they are off the runway,” posits the 10-page spread by photographer Sebastian Kim and stylist Kathryn Neale. That Soo Joo, bona fide street style icon (remember that shot from Paris?), opens the series should come as no surprise. “[My personal style has] always got a little twist, a little individuality and uniqueness,” explains Soo Joo in a behind-the-scenes video produced by H&M. That twist is part of what makes Soo Joo such a darling in this H&M story and by extension the Vogue September issue the weighty spectacle it is.
